Bio

Simón Calle is a Colombian photographer and visual artist who explores the fragility of memory, cycles of violence, and historical narratives. His work challenges established structures in society and seeks to provoke deep reflection on identity, time, and the processes of historical accumulation. He explores different techniques in search of telling visual stories and is currently more focused on the archive as part of his creative process.

At the age of eighteen, Simón moved to Buenos Aires to study cinema. Upon returning to Colombia, he worked on documentary and advertising projects, expanding his visual perspective. Since 2024 he has lived in Madrid, where he continues to delve deeper into his research on collective memory and the remnants of violence that persist throughout history.

In his project Palimpsesto: Fosas comunes de la memoria, Calle uses the technique of layering images to explore how remnants of the past accumulate in layers, reflecting the impossibility of accessing a single truth. Through images of the disappeared, letters, and other elements, his work questions the relationship between memory, history, and the body, inviting the viewer to confront the invisible scars left by violence over time.

Simón Calle follows a path where technique meets philosophical reflection, creating a visual experience that transcends the obvious and becomes a space for open questions about history and memory.
